Partnerships

Education, in any field, cannot exist in a bubble, and we share a reciprocal relationship with our partners with the common goal to foster high standards and practices in the field of gemmology.

The Montreal School of Gemmology (EGM) is proud to be affiliated with the following organizations :

Gem-A Gemmological Association of Great Britain

The Montreal School of Gemmology (EGM) is recognized as an Allied Teaching Centre.  As such, EGM is authorized to offer preparatory classes, practical sessions and tutoring sessions for students studying to write the Gem-A exams.  Students who successfully pass the Gem-A exams receive a Diploma in Gemmology and are eligible for the coveted title of FGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain).

This accreditation privilege must be renewed every year in order to ensure that each ATC around the world meets Gem-A's high standards for gemmological education. EGM is proud to have held this title continuously since 1998.

EGM offers both an intensive and an extended preparatory class for Gem-A exams.   A number of our students have received merits, distinctions and awards for outstanding results.  Many students who succeed make the trip to London, England to attend the graduation ceremony held in the prestigious Goldsmith's Hall.

GIA
Gemological Institute of America

For over ten years EGM has enjoyed a privileged relationship with the GIA.

More than 200 students have taken practical workshops in diamond grading, pearl grading and coloured stone identification offered by the GIA in Montreal in collaboration with EGM.

Dozens of students studying by correspondence with the GIA write their exams with an invigilator at EGM.

Many of these correspondence students also take courses and workshops at EGM to supplement their on-line or distance studies and increase their chances for success.

CGA Canadian Gemmological Association

EGM offers students the opportunity to prepare for the CGA exams leading to the title FCGmA (Fellow of the Canadian Gemmological Association).  EGM also offers support and practical courses to correspondence students preparing for the CGA exams.

EGM maintains a close relationship with the CGA sharing information to ensure that our students are aware of issues that are of particular concern to gemmologists working in Canada. EGM continues to attend the annual CGA conference and even hosted the event in Montreal in 1998.
